Biden Confirms Plans to Go Around Congress to Take Your Guns

08212012HestonThe Obama Administration is preparing to bypass Congress and take Americans’ guns by executive order, Vice President Joe Biden admitted today.
Talking to the press before a meeting with victims of gun violence, Biden said, “The president is going to act. There are executives orders, there’s executive action that can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required.”
That statement should chill Americans to the bone.
Many people have criticized Obama for wanting to be a king rather than a president, something I think he effectively achieved when he went around Congress last year to enact the Dream Act through executive order. If he now plans to confiscate, or even just restrict, guns through powers not granted him by the Constitution, he will have sealed the deal.
Congress ignored his illegal actions when he gave amnesty to millions of illegals without so much as consulting congressional leaders. I wrote at the time that Congress’ inaction was setting a legal precedent for future abuses. Now we have it straight from the donkey’s mouth that the Man Who Would Be King is going to use that precedent to take away God-given rights protected by the Constitution.
And this time around, Congress will not ignore his unconstitutional power grab, it will endorse it, guaranteed.
Even though support for stricter gun control has dropped from 78 percent in 1991 to 43 percent in 2011, according to Gallup, there is at this moment a temporary bump in support for gun control due to promotion in the media following the Sandy Hook shootings.
That temporary bump is the break the despots-in-waiting in Washington have been looking for to give cover to their dictatorial plans.

The political will for confiscation of this country’s guns is strong right now, with support from people like Mario Cuomo, who reportedly is poised to unveil his own list of gun grabs for New York in his State of the State speech. Scores of politicians are jumping on the anti-gun train, including Iowa state Rep. Dan Muhlbauer, who is calling for outright confiscation.
In the Colonial Era, taxation without representation provided the fuse to the powder keg that became the American Revolution, but it was King George’s attempt to confiscate the colonists’ guns and gunpowder that lit the fuse.
When the Royal Governor of Massachusetts, General Thomas Gage, dispatched Redcoats to break up a town meeting in Salem, over 3,000 armed colonists appeared and forced the British to retreat. Gage’s aide complained that everyone in the region age 16 and older owned a gun and plenty of powder.
At the time, colonial governments typically had a public “powder house” where large supplies of guns and powder would be stored, and they would often give guns and powder to any adult male who couldn’t otherwise afford one.
The revolution finally began on April 19, 1775, when 700 Redcoats under the command of Major John Pitcairn left Boston to seize the arms from the residents of Lexington and Concord.
We all know how that turned out for the British.
