Boys Expelled — For Playing With Toy Guns In Their Own Front Yard

The Virginia Beach City Public School district is saying that the students aren’t actually being expelled; they’re being given “long-term suspensions.” Whatever the case, the students won’t be allowed back to school for the rest of this semester and even until June of next year. There will be some hearing in January to decide if these students deserve longer-term suspensions.

These “suspensions” were prompted by an incident a couple weeks ago when a few friends were playing with their airsoft plastic pellet guns in one of the boys’ front yards while they were waiting for the morning bus to come. A “concerned” neighbor called 911, even admitting to the operator that the guns were toys, but that they made her feel “uncomfortable.” Local news media reported that ironically, this concerned neighbor’s own son was among those kids playing in an airsoft gun war. That particular 911 call was made on September 9th.

A second 911 call was made three days later by another concerned neighbor. That time, police notified the kids’ school of their actions, and school officials investigated the incident and unanimously suspended the three boys involved who were playing with the toy guns:  Khalid Caraballo, Aidan Clark and a third, unnamed friend. The other three kids involved who were not playing with guns were not suspended. Those suspended were charged with “possession, handling and use of a firearm.” On Tuesday, school officials changed the charge to “possession, handling and use of an airsoft gun.”

But by all accounts, the kids weren’t playing on school property. They weren’t playing with their guns on the school bus. They were in Caraballo’s front yard. So why did the police feel like they had to notify the school? And why did the school feel obligated to get involved with something that should have remained a private matter?

According to the chairman of the school board, the reason is that other students at the bus stop were put in danger of being hit by plastic pellets:

“[S]omehow student safety has taken a back seat in the intense media coverage of this case. This is not an example of a public educator overreaching. This was not zero tolerance at all. This was a measured response to a threat to student safety.”

The school must be so used to thinking they own the students that they butt in wherever they don’t belong. (Of course, they don’t really belong anywhere.) Khalid’s mom stated, “How dare he [Khalid] disobey me, but this is a home issue. It’s not a school issue, and it won’t happen again. He will never do this again.” And Aidan’s dad agreed:  “I always thought this was a Dad deal, not a school deal. It was a parental issue, not a school issue.”

Thanks to the school’s actions, these kids will likely have “history of gun violence” branded on their school records.

The one good thing that’s come of this is that the parents are being forced to offer their kids an alternative to government schools:

Until the hearing in January, the boys will either attend Renaissance Academy or be homeschooled. Aidan’s father said his son will be homeschooled. Caraballo will attend an alternative school.

Like Will Smith’s son Jaden said, “If everybody in the world dropped out of school we would have a much more intelligent society… School is the tool to brainwash the youth.”

Fakest of the fake?

Fakest of the fake? Barack Obama’s Twitter following includes 19.5 million people who don’t exist, and the first lady has 1.9 million nonexistent fans of her own

Among influential U.S. political tweeters, President Barack Obama is the undisputed king of the fake followers. A MailOnline analysis ranks his sizable Twitter following as the most deceptive total among the 21 most influential accounts run by American politicians: More than 19.5 million of his 36.9 million Twitter followers are accounts that don’t correspond to real people.

The four phoniest accounts in the sample, which included Democratic and Republican Party leaders in Washington, D.C., were those belonging to President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, first lady Michelle Obama and the White House communications shop.

Of the president’s 36.9 million Twitter followers, an astonishing 53 per cent – or 19.5 million – are fake accounts, according to a search engine at the Internet research vendor Just 20 per cent of Obama’s Twitter buddies are real people who are active users.

Overall, the five most influential accounts linked to the Obama administration – the first lady has two – account for 23.4 million fake followers.

Biden’s nonexistent fans make up 46 per cent of his Twitter total, with 20 per cent being ‘real’ followers. The White House’s followers are 37 per cent fake and 25 per cent active; the first lady’s primary account is 36 per cent fake and 29 per cent active.

The Daily Caller reported on Tuesday that Michelle Obama’s Twitter followers included nearly 2 million nonexistent people, a number that lines up with MailOnline’s findings.

MailOnline looked at 21 accounts, and the numbers show that just about everyone in Washington is a minimum of 11 per cent phony -- at least on Twitter

4 Million Rounds Of Ammunition A Year For An Agency That Won’t Enforce Immigration Law

The question is “Why”?

 18 September 2013Slug1

Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a pre-solicitation for over 2 million rounds per year of 12 gauge 2-3/4” 1 ounce Foster rifled slug (reduced recoil) shotgun rounds, as well as 2 million of  the standard recoil.

DHS intends to use the ammunition for the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agencies spread throughout the US, Hawaii, Alaska, and territories.

A Foster slug, invented by Karl Foster (or Forster) in 1931, is a shotgun slug designed to be fired through a smooth bore shotgun barrel. Foster invented the slug for deer hunting during the Great Depression using smooth bore, choked shotguns. At first they were hand casted, and sold to his neighbors to feed their families. The Foster is the standard American shotgun slug; they are sometimes referred to as “American slugs”.

However, the slug is designed to increase a shooter’s accuracy out to 75 to 100 yards, depending on the type of barrel (smooth or rifled).

This all follows recent ammunition and weapons purchases by both agencies earlier this month.  ICE already has a solicitation for over a half million dollars in 12 gauge 00 reduced recoil ammunition, and CBP requested the purchase of 287 Remington 870 shotguns, presumably to train using this new ammunition that is being requested.

If taken as a whole, this solicitation will cost the American Tax Payer an estimated $3.4 million dollars a year until the end of the contract ($17.2 million), which typically runs for 5 years. This assumption is based on the cheapest 12 gauge 2-3/4” 1 ounce slug at

Regardless of the cost, regardless of the amount, the concerning point is the incessant purchasing of ammunition during a time of massive unemployment, massive debt, and massive ineptitude by the Washington leadership.

It’s time to contact your Congressman and politely ask them to step in and tell the DHS and other agencies to stop. Stop wasting our money, stop scaring the public and stop lying about the reasons for the excessive purchases.

Iowa Democrat prays: Dear god, thank you for abortion

By BYRON YORK | AUGUST 31, 2013 AT 10:53 AM

With high-ranking Democratic officials listening reverently in the Iowa state capitol, a liberal activist and union official on Wednesday led a prayer for increased funding for abortions, for greater access to abortions, for doctors who perform abortions, and for what she called “the blessing of choice.”

Midge Slater, an organizer for the Iowa Alliance for Retired Americans, part of the Iowa Federation of Labor and the AFL-CIO, spoke to about 80 people who came to the capitol to protest a proposal that the State Board of Medicine end a program that allows doctors to prescribe an abortion pill for a woman after a video chat, rather than an in-person consultation.

Two days later, on Friday, the Board voted to end the practice known as “tele-med” abortions.

In her invocation at the rally, which was attended by Jack Hatch and Tyler Olson, two Democratic candidates for governor of Iowa, Slater prayed that elected officials “may always support a woman’s right to make her own medical decisions.” She prayed for “increased financial support for low income women” to have abortions. She prayed that “women in developing nations” have greater access to abortion. She prayed to “give thanks and celebrate that abortion is still safe and legal.” And she prayed that families may know “the blessing of choice.”

Slater also prayed for “women have been made afraid of their own power by their paternalistic religion.” And she asked God that women be able to “throw away their secrets and claim their herstories.”

Tea Party Grit Saved Nation Half-Trillion in New Debt

Perhaps anticipating its new life in the Bezos’ world, the Washington Post on Sunday put on its green-eye-shade to tally up the books for the federal government. It noted that federal spending was down just $2 billion since 2010, when the Republicans, and the Tea Party, took control of the House. While implicitly trying to minimize the impact of the Tea Party, the Post ignored where spending would be without the healthy dose of austerity. Based on a decade-long trend-line, the influence of the Tea Party didn’t just trim $2 billion from the budget but avoided almost $500 billion in new debt.

Since the turn of the new century, government spending has increased an average 6% a year. Applying this historical trend to the Post‘s 2010 baseline number indicates that federal spending would be about $430 billion higher than it is today. Even this might be underestimating the impact of the Tea Party revolution.

In the four years that Democrats had complete control of Congress, federal spending increased by an average 9% a year. If the Democrats had maintained control of Congress after the 2010 elections, this trend would put spending over $4.1 trillion today. All things being equal, the federal debt would be $700 Billion higher than it is today.

The Post does get one thing right, however. We are nowhere close to tackling our fiscal problems. People can scream about earmarks, subsidies and wasteful spending until they are blue in the face, but those are almost a rounding error in terms of our budget. More than two-thirds of all federal spending is on entitlements or other redistribution schemes. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid consume almost all federal tax dollars.

Outside of those three programs, our government spent $1.2 trillion last year. That includes the military, highways, FBI, the courts, farm programs, food stamps and all the federal agencies. Our deficit last year? $1.1 trillion. Essentially, we spent all federal tax revenue writing checks to people and borrowed money to fund the things we think government ought to do.

So, yes, we have a long way to go. But, the Tea Party revolution is having an impact. We just need now turn the volume of activism up to “11”.

The New York Times’ prophetic 1983 warning

David Burnham, in 1983: THE SILENT POWER OF THE N.S.A.

No laws define the limits of the N.S.A.’s power. No Congressional committee subjects the agency’s budget to a systematic, informed and skeptical review. With unknown billions of Federal dollars, the agency purchases the most sophisticated communications and computer equipment in the world. But truly to comprehend the growing reach of this formidable organization, it is necessary to recall once again how the computers that power the N.S.A. are also gradually changing lives of Americans – the way they bank, obtain benefits from the Government and communicate with family and friends. Every day, in almost every area of culture and commerce, systems and procedures are being adopted by private companies and organizations as well as by the nation’s security leaders that make it easier for the N.S.A. to dominate American society should it ever decide such action is necessary.

This is embarassing for the Liberals!

OFA Gets Zero Attendance for Climate Change Rally

August 13, 2013 2:16 pm

Not a single person showed up at the Georgetown waterfront Tuesday for a climate change agenda event put on by Organizing for Action, the shadowy nonprofit advocacy group born out of President Obama’s 2012 campaign, the NRCC wrote in its blog.

The event page for the “Climate Change Day of Action Rally” disappeared after rainy weather appeared to drive away whatever people planned to attend. The embarrassing showing follows the news that only one volunteer stayed for an OFA Obamacare event in Centreville, Va., last week to work the phones:

ZERO PEOPLE at the OFA rally at the Georgetown Waterfront this morning.
